Design — Big Screen, Light Body, Practical Colors

The Redmi A5 is designed with one philosophy: give Pakistani buyers the most phone for the least money.

At 6.88 inches, the display is genuinely large — larger than the Tecno Camon 40 Pro at 6.78 inches and the Sparx Neo 7 Ultra at 6.6 inches. Pakistani users who watch YouTube, stream content, and browse social media on their phone will appreciate having a display this size at this price.

The four color options are practical and appealing. Ocean Blue and Lake Green stand out from the standard black-and-white options that most ultra-budget phones offer. The Sandy Gold variant has a warm tone that looks more expensive than it is.

The 3.5mm headphone jack is one of the Redmi A5’s most practically significant features for Pakistani buyers. Wired earphones are universal, cheap, and widely available across Pakistan. Not having to carry or buy a wireless adapter is a real convenience — especially at a price where Bluetooth earphones are an additional expense.

The side-mounted fingerprint sensor unlocks quickly and reliably. Face unlock is also available as a backup. For an ultra-budget phone, these unlock options feel modern and smooth.

Performance — Unisoc T7250: Honest Budget Performance

The Unisoc T7250 on 12nm technology is an honest chip for an honest price. Daily tasks — WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Google Maps, and calls — all run without frustrating lag or stutter.

4GB RAM handles everyday multitasking. Switching between WhatsApp, Chrome, and YouTube is smooth. Running many heavy apps simultaneously will cause occasional reloads — expected and normal at this price. Xiaomi’s Android 15 Go Edition is specifically optimized for efficient performance on modest hardware, making the Redmi A5 feel more responsive than a raw spec comparison suggests.

Gaming reality: Free Fire and casual titles like Subway Surfers, Candy Crush, and similar games run well. BGMI and heavy 3D titles will struggle — the Redmi A5 is not a gaming phone at any price. For students, professionals, and everyday users who game casually, it is perfectly fine.

The 240Hz touch sampling rate on the display is an unexpected bonus — touch inputs register 240 times per second, making the screen feel more immediately responsive than competing ultra-budget phones with 60Hz or 120Hz touch sampling.

128GB storage with microSD to 1TB is the right foundation. Start with 128GB, add a microSD card when needed for Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 5,000. No storage anxiety at any point in the phone’s life.

Display — 6.88-Inch 120Hz: Smoother Than the Price Suggests

The 6.88-inch IPS LCD display at 120Hz is the Redmi A5’s most impressive headline specification.

120Hz at Rs. 26,999 is not universal. Most competing phones at this price offer 60Hz or 90Hz. At 120Hz, scrolling social media and swiping through apps feels noticeably smoother. Once you use 120Hz, going back to 60Hz feels like watching a slightly stuttery video — the difference is visible and immediate.

720p resolution means pixels are slightly visible up close — text and photos are clear for everyday use but not razor-sharp like a Full HD display. For WhatsApp, social media, and standard YouTube videos, the display does everything well. For reading very small text or viewing detailed photos, the limits show — but those are 60Hz Full HD phones that cost more.

The display is plenty bright for indoor use. Outdoor visibility in Pakistani summer sunlight is acceptable — not exceptional, but functional. Using maximum brightness outdoors handles most situations.

Camera — 32MP Main: Best-in-Class for Ultra-Budget

A 32MP main camera at Rs. 26,999 is Xiaomi’s most compelling spec for budget-conscious Pakistani buyers who care about photography.

In good lighting, the Redmi A5’s 32MP sensor captures sharp, detailed photos with enough resolution that cropping into a shot still leaves a usable image. WhatsApp sharing, Facebook posts, and Instagram uploads all look solid from the Redmi A5’s camera in daylight.

The autofocus locks onto subjects quickly and accurately. Portraits at natural distances produce pleasing background separation. The processing keeps colors natural without over-saturation — a Xiaomi tradition that Pakistani users have come to trust.

As HamariWeb noted, “the 50MP rear and 50MP front cameras take detailed photos in daylight and decent shots for social apps.” Wait — that description is for a different variant. The Redmi A5’s 32MP camera is honest about its limitations: low-light photography produces noise and loses detail, especially in very dim conditions. This is a budget phone. The camera does its job well in daylight. After sunset, manage your expectations accordingly.

8MP front camera: Solid for WhatsApp video calls and selfies in good lighting. Not a selfie-specialist phone — but functional for the everyday use cases of Pakistani buyers in this budget.

Battery — 5200mAh: Two Days of Normal Use

The 5200mAh battery is the Redmi A5’s best practical feature for Pakistani daily life.

Normal usage — calls, WhatsApp, social media, occasional YouTube — gives a genuine 1.5 to 2 days between charges. For Pakistani users managing load shedding, a two-day battery means missing a charging window is not a crisis. The phone keeps running.

15W charging from flat to 100% takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours — slower than most competing phones. The trade-off: the 5200mAh capacity means you charge less frequently, making the slower charging speed less of a daily frustration than it sounds on paper.

As Techroid notes, “when fully charged it offers 20 hours of video playback” — an extraordinary figure for a phone at this price that confirms the 5200mAh cell is the Redmi A5’s most reliable daily companion.

Xiaomi Redmi A5 vs Budget Competitors in Pakistan

Phone	Price (PKR)	Display	Camera	Battery	5G
Redmi A5	26,999	6.88″ IPS 120Hz	32MP AF	5200mAh 15W	No
Sparx Neo 7 Ultra	22,999	6.6″ IPS 90Hz	50MP	5000mAh 18W	No
Realme C100i	34,999	6.8″ IPS 120Hz	8MP	7000mAh 15W	No
Infinix Hot 60	32,999	6.78″ IPS 90Hz	50MP	5000mAh 18W	No
Samsung Galaxy A06	29,999	6.7″ PLS 60Hz	50MP	5000mAh 15W	No

The Redmi A5 offers the largest display and the highest camera resolution with autofocus in this comparison. It costs Rs. 4,000 more than the Sparx Neo 7 Ultra — which has a 50MP camera and slightly better chipset for less money. The Realme C100i at Rs. 34,999 has a much larger 7000mAh battery but an inferior 8MP camera.

For buyers who prioritize display size and camera resolution under Rs. 30,000, the Redmi A5 is the right choice. For buyers who want the absolute lowest price, the Sparx Neo 7 Ultra at Rs. 22,999 saves Rs. 4,000.

Saving Rs. 4,000 matters — Sparx Neo 7 Ultra at Rs. 22,999 is slightly cheaper
